Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has expressed support for Brexit -- Britain exiting the European Union -- in an interview with Fox News, stating that the UK would be "better off without" the European Union.

Claiming that migration "has been a horrible thing for Europe," Trump blamed the Union for pushing it.

"I would say that they're better off without it, personally, but I'm not making that as a recommendation. Just my feeling," he said.

"I know Great Britain very well, I know the country very well, I have a lot of investments there."

"I want them to make their own decision."

In April, U.S. president Barack Obama made an emotional plea to Britons to vote for staying in the union.

He said the UK would go to the "back of the queue" for trade deals with the U.S. if the country chose to leave the EU. His remarks angered those campaigning for the Leave campaign.

Recent polling shows that 46% of people in the UK favour leaving the EU, 43% wish to remain, while 11% don't know.
